Lego space battleships needs some design tweaks
Interesting strategic ship building core. New players might not latch onto fun part of game and miss out.
Find new opponent should be cheap coin price not premium currency.
Matchmaking rank should be per player per ship: there is no point being forced to fight a Hammerhead with a Raven.
Game appears to use a ratcheting system for matchmaking which means your ships become obsolete, this is to make you spend money to keep up. -1 star just for that.
Fleet Arena should use its own currency earned by payouts from normal play: You need coins for new ships.
Missing component size for new tech is an egregious omission that sees you buy expensive tech only to learn it wont fit on any of your ships.
Design should accelerate player into a biggish class sooner such as a Warrior. The early ships dont have room to be creative.
It would add a lot to be able to rotate 2x1 & 3x2 items clockwise to fit. Or simply provide unlocks for Minelayers and Repair bays that are merely rotated versions.
Repair bays should not repair themselves -- that is lame.
Its not unusual for a situation to develop where a ship is repairing faster than it can be damaged, this leads to foregone endings which are not exciting to watch.
Game needs cross-session objectives with payouts --eg Repair 10,000 damage: payout 10celestium
Game needs per session bonus Goals that encourage rebuilds: eg Deal 300 damage with lasers TODAY: payout free instant ship repair. When you complete the goal you get a new one immediately.
Overall nice concept, needs design tune up for meta/long game
Nov 2015: 3 stars, could easily be higher with adjustments
Dec 2015: 2 stars, ratchet matchmaking kinda wrecks the enjoyment of the game after a couple weeks effort. Needs adjusting
Jan 2016: 2 stars. No apparent changes to this game yet.
